Almost to Tri2!

So my lil' lime,
You are about to graduate from embryo to fetus! So exciting! We did the Intelligender test and it looked like you might be a girl! We will see at the BIG ultrasound (maybe in October) when we get to see you again. :) We went to the see the MW and got to hear your sweet heartbeat which was amazing 170 beats per minute! What an amazing day to lay there so quietly and hear your woosh wooosh woosh of your little heart beating so fast! I'm going to tell you right now that your daddy is going to be the most wonderful man in your life. He is being so good to us already, helping me to do everything so that I can rest and take care of you, he is going to be so wonderful with you, you wait and see! You will be able to hear us soon too, we talk to you every day and night and daddy even rubs my belly and puts lotion on it while he talks to you. We found out something very intersting at the MW's appointment when we went...my blood type in B- ! That is so weird because your grandma, grandpa, and great grandpas are B+ so we just thought I was, but I am not. B- is actually pretty rare and when you have a - blood type you have to get a special shot to make sure my body doesn't fight off any future babies. Good thing you will be okay (and so will the other babies), we just do the shot just in case!
As far as how I am feeling... well right now, nausea everyday (but no throwing up!), acne (but it is seeming to be getting a little better), tired, and very HOT all the time. Daddy is taking such good care of us, he is so wonderful I don't know what we would do without him!

Names we are thinking for you:
BOY: Olin Matthew
GIRL: Lucy (LuLu), Penelope (Penny), Sage Amelia, Eden...

Well that's all for now! Almost everyone knows about you now, we are having a BBQ to celebrate the engagements of Molly and Joel and Uncle Eric and Aunt Krista (whose wedding you will be going to next fall), your growing in mommy's tummy, grandpa's birthay, and your new house! So much to celebrate, wish you were here--we love you and can't wait to meet you!
xoxo

11 weeks 3 days....

Your baby continues to grow and is now approximately the size of a large lime! The crown-to-rump length of your developing child is 1.75 to 2.4 inches. The weight of the fetus is approximately 8 grams at this point. The growth of your baby is phenomenal now and your baby's length will double in the next three weeks. The head is grossly out of proportion and is almost half of the baby's length.

You are almost at the end of your first trimester and while changes continue to occur quickly in your baby, they are happening at a slower rate in you. Your uterus has been growing with the fetus inside of it and is now almost big enough to fill your pelvis. Your uterus may be able to be felt in your lower abdomen, above the middle of your pubic bone. You are not able to feel the baby moving inside of you at this time. Some women think that they have felt their baby moving now, but it is either gas or a wrongly dated pregnancy. You might also be noticing changes in your hair, fingernails, or skin around this time. Some women notice an increase in hair growth and nail growth during pregnancy and others lose small amounts of hair. You are burning up calories at a faster rate than you did before you became pregnant! The amount of blood being pumped around your body will increase and you might feel warmer than usual.

This is the last week of the embryonic period. From now on, your baby will be called a fetus. Your baby's fingernails appear this week! External genitalia are beginning to show distinguishing features and the development of male or female will be complete in three weeks. The placenta's blood vessels increase to provide your baby with the nutrients and oxygen he needs for continued growth. Your baby's ears are gradually moving from the neck towards the sides of his head. Inside of your baby's abdomen, the intestines are developing. Because the intestines are so large, some of them project into the umbilical cord and they will return to the abdomen within the next week or two.

At the size of a plumb, your baby is now able to swallow. The urinary system functions. The baby swallows and urinates the amniotic fluid and the fluid is continually replaced. The baby is kicking but the mother cannot feel it yet. All vital organs are formed and, for the most part, function normally. From now on, they will grow in size and efficiency.

As a preparation for breastfeeding, your baby now has learned to swallow. Babies swallow amniotic fluid in the uterus.

dear littlest (O)Love....(get it Olive?)

Lil' B-
I am writing in a letter format to you as I feel you are growing into such a little person! You are 9 weeks and almost 2 days now! The weekend is coming to a close and so much fun stuff is happening. Planning for you is the greatest and the symptoms are not too terrible... constant nausea, peeing a lot at night, tired, and pimples pimples everywhere (I mean everywhere-my neck, my chest, my face like a teenager!)

It is so amazing! You are about the size of an olive now with arms, legs, fingers, toes, a beating heart, a brilliant brain, no more tail (yup, you had a tail, we all did), ear buds, eye lids, and looking like a baby! ....So curious if you are a girl or a boy?

Our next appointment is August 20th (10 days from tomorrow) and I am going to tell the boss this week!

Your daddy is amazing; he is so sweet taking care of me so I can care for you! He talks to you every night and tell you he loves you. We can't wait until you can really hear us and we can read you stories and listen to music and share the world with you!

We love you so much already!
xoxo
